Sitting out on a gorgeous day with your bestie, with hot tea and gossip, does it get better than that? This simple village scene painted in ancient Madhubani style depicts simpler bygone times. Times when talking to your friends was the best therapy you could ask for, times when there was no social media pressure and life was happier without any modern comforts and gadgets. Sharing a cup of tea and conversation with a friend or neighbor could not only life the weight off stresses of life but also enrich and make it more wholesome. This painting always makes me smile and appreciate the value of simple things in life!

Madhubani is an ancient Indian folk art form that originated in the Mithila (Present-day Bihar) region of the country. It is said to be a 2,500 year old art form.

Get to Know the Austin Artist:
I am Preeti Agrawal, a passionate Austin-based watercolor artist, avid crafter and social media blogger. While I enjoy painting many subjects, I find my passion in painting antique objects, and specifically doors from many times and places. To me they are not mere entrances to buildings but a physical embodiment of many different people, times, and places. Each one of these doors present their own personality and history to me and by painting them, I feel I am simultaneously able to open their world to me and pay homage to their lives and histories.
