A one-of-a-kind art piece, formed and carved by nature, transformed by my hand and inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi that repairs the broken with gold. The brokenness is not hidden or glossed over, but rather embraced and highlighted, honoring the idea that it is stronger and more beautiful because of the journey.
This collectible art shell is from the 'Ancient' series using shells that are naturally dyed deep colors by the ocean bed, sometimes taking hundreds or thousands of years. This fascinating journey is celebrated in 'Evermore'
Get to Know the San Antonio Artist:
Painter, photographer, dancer, gardener, lover of nature and all things that bring wholeness, I am drawn to the art of Kintsugi and the message that value is found in embracing both the beautiful and broken places. I believe that with the touch of Grace, broken places are mended and can become even more beautiful. There is value in the journey and those rough places can teach us and add beauty to our story if we allow them.
My goal is to showcase this idea of ‘redemptive beauty’ through my art; what I call KintsugiGrace®.
