Maria
Janis Fowler
18"h x 12"w paper print
Maria gazes out along with her other primate friends, reminding us of the interconnectedness of mankind and nature. She represents an ideal balance between natural habitats, mankind, and both close and distant relatives of mankind in a world we all can share. Maria has a tarsier friend (left shoulder), a little pygmy marmoset (on her hand), a capuchin monkey (right shoulder), a young spider monkey clutching her forearm, and a barbary macaque seated on the log in the central part! So many little monkey friends!
Get to Know the Austin Artist:
I am an artist who has been living and creating art in Austin for over 15 years. My work is inspired by the struggles and joys that we face every day and often features ladies and animals living their best lives. I enjoy taking a mixed-media approach to my work, often combining several different types of painting and media in a single work. I love color and form, and art has helped me channel my thoughts and feelings in a productive way that helps me get through life's hills and valleys.
