About the Art:
This collection was inspired by my own efforts to have my actions, words and experiences more aligned with my authentic self. The compositions feature color bars symbolizing step by step, action by action, coming into alignment, while the pigments blur, react and drip, alluding to the messiness of life and self progression. Each original artwork comes with a handwritten inspirational poem:

"The Road to Alignment" by Julie Pelaez
Listening to each inner cue,
Our body knows something is askew.
A disingenuous action, a comment we said,
Abandoning intuition for acceptance instead.
Living in alignment is a goal so elusive
But pursuing it is crucial - that is conclusive.
You may stay there a moment, or even a year
Inevitably slipping out, but how, it’s not clear.
To self-examine, to consciously face
Where we disconnect from our most innate place
Is to uncover a map to all things that matter,
Where stubborn dissonance dissolves and scatters.
To stand in our truth and know our own voice,
Upholding our authenticity is the ultimate choice.

Get to Know the Austin Artist:
As a storyteller, abstract art is my language to convey the lessons in self discovery that I continue to learn and reinforce the person I hope to become. Through themes of empowerment and rich with hidden symbolism, my art cultivates connection while elevating interiors. Each artwork is so much more than a pretty rectangle on the wall.

There is a personal narrative, an inspiration, a rallying cry, a universal theme of human experience we can all relate to. I work in collections, each with its own overarching message and distinct execution style. I draw upon my heavy conceptual background gained from a decade-long career as an Advertising Art Director to communicate through different combinations of mediums and materials. From whimsy to philosophical, the topics conveyed cultivate self reflection on the part of the viewer as we all try to become better versions of ourselves and uncover new perspectives.

I received my BFA from The University of Delaware in 2000. I passionately create from my home studio in Austin where I live with my husband and 2 boys.
