Lack of Desperation
Skyris Jorgensen
Acrylic on canvas
40”h x 30”w

Truly when my mind can be free of demands to produce a likable piece of artwork, is when I feel the most inspired to play with color. As an artist, I find that I will always be in the middle; I have people I can look up to and I have people who look up to me. In the pursuit of making myself a “better” artist, my ears are open to all kinds of advice. It tends to distract me from my creative zone, and challenges me to perfect a certain quality rather than tapping into my flow state. There are moments when I feel desperate for sales or recognition in order to justify myself as a working artist. However, trying to create from that headspace doesn’t leave much room for inspiration. This painting was a reminder that creating comes first and options will make themselves known the more I create. Don’t force it.

Let it be. Let it flow.
