I found paint that was thrown out and wanted to push the limits of the medium. The image I used was one I had taken while working as a server. I witnessed this young couple talking and laughing and it was simply a pleasant scene that I wanted to capture. 

Get to Know the Austin Artist:
Originally from El Paso, Estevan is now based in Austin as a Junior Art Studio undergraduate at UT. Though still early in his career, he is eager to become more connected with Austin and its artistic community as he grows as a local artist. In his own practice, he creates monochromatic, realistic portraits of candid subjects in everyday life. Recently, he has begun experimenting with color as a way to exploring mundane scenes and turning them into something more vibrant.
