"It gathered the warmth it’s long been denied, wings spread like tired mosaics catching light like old coins, the residue of both sun and storm still etched across their surface. The air tasted of sugar and rust, sweet with the faint perfume of endurance. It had swallowed the sea and the silence that comes after, carried hunger across horizons, and now stood in the hush between motion and meaning, a creature built from ache and persistence, from the long patience of staying.
There was a particular grace in its stillness, the bittersweet beauty of survival, a flavor sharp and lovely, fleeting as the glint before dusk fades. Even ruin can glimmer if the day leans kindly enough. Here, where the light lingers and the body remembers, beauty waits, just long enough to remind the living what it costs to stay."
Get to Know The Austin Artist:
Phill’s enthusiasm as an artist is fueled by his love for the complex aspects of urban environments.
Placing the importance of expression at the forefront of each piece, he is guided by the desire to create authentic experiences of place. He challenges the connotations of place and argues that is more than a synonym for location, offering instead that it is a unique ensemble of nature and culture.
