For this piece, I wanted to create a scene where light and colors behave illogically in a normal, every day environment. This unexpectedness invites the viewer to look differently at a sight they may see multiple times a day. The textures I created were inspired by wavy lines found in wood grain.

Get to Know the Austin Artist:
I’m a designer and illustrator living in Austin, Texas. I studied Studio Art and English at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. I feel my happiest and most satisfied working on creative projects I’m passionate about, whether it’s cutting out tiny collage details with my x-acto knife, or working in Figma to make intuitive designs.

I love experimenting with color and texture through paste paper collage, and I’m constantly inspired by my favorite children’s book illustrators, Eric Carle, Christian Robinson, and so many more.
