This original art piece was painted with both gouache and watercolor in 2025 on Nujabi paper. It was reproduced at original size 9” by 10” with a 60 print numbered series on both Hahnemuhle German paper and Accent Opaque uncoated paper. A deer amongst the flowers, mushrooms, ferns and foliage evokes a serene and whimsical scene that hopes to uplift the viewer and inspire an appreciation of beauty found in nature. 

“This piece is my love note to the forest and the pretty things that grow within it. I picked some of my favorites - mushrooms and ferns and sprinkled them on an unsuspecting deer. I think he’s ok with it.”

Printmaking Process: Each print is drawn directly onto the wood or linoleum block then the white space is carefully carved out by hand. After being carved, the block is inked with a roller, hand-pulled and placed in a lever style press with specialty paper, details are finished with a hand baren, then set out to dry. Because of this process, each print is a unique variation and unlike any other print from the same block - making each a true original.

My designs are inspired by nature. Getting outside is good for the soul- it reminds us to slow down, stills our restlessness and turmoil and helps us reconnect with ourselves and appreciate the world around us. My goal is to bring peace and a little bit of whimsy to paper and cheer up someone in a small way. Through my artwork I try to capture some of the beauty of the natural world and share it with you!
