Holly Prinz
Acrylic on Canvas
18"h x 24"w x 1.5"d framed
2025
Since summer has come to an end and kids are going back to school, I thought I’d share this painting. It is inspired by a photo I took in the neighborhood I grew up in. Hints of autumn creep up on the trees, as a school crossing sign reflects off an old Buick. I can nearly smell the suburban air just by looking at it.
Get to Know the Artist:
Holly Prinz has had an affinity for art since childhood. Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, she developed an early appreciation for architecture, old cars, and the quiet charm of the town around her. She also credits her grandmother’s scenic oil paintings for inspiring her creativity at a young age. As a young, self-taught artist, Holly became captivated by realism and honed her skills in charcoal drawing, developing a deep understanding of form, light, and texture.
After moving to Austin, where creative expression runs deep, Holly’s artistic path evolved into painting as she sought a greater sense of freedom and expression in her work. With an eye for photography and the world’s quiet details, she captures her own reference images and transforms them into paintings that blend realism with surreal color schemes. Her work reflects both observation and imagination - inviting viewers to see the ordinary in a new light.
