Infrastructure Project is an ongoing series of work inspired by ephemeral structures people make their homes and livelihood in and their contrast with large, durable infrastructure and luxury buildings. It is a meditation on our society and its priorities and an exercise in “seeing” and visually exploring these transient “unseen” people and places found in the shadow of costly public works and local landmarks.

Get to Know the Artist:
Paul Moncus is a visual artist living and working in Austin, Texas. His work focuses primarily on the “human condition” and spans such subjects as portraiture, the lived in landscape, and everyday life, with occasional adventures into conceptual art, expressionism, and abstraction. Moncus received his BFA in studio art at Texas State University in 1999 where he studied drawing and painting. When he isn’t making visual art he can be found reading, creating music, or photographing and working on motorcycles and automobiles.
