Water can be a metaphor for chaos and darkness, or for rejuvenation and abundance. Saltwater, 7am explores the later, with active textural blues dancing with moments of sunrise colors that seem to be reflections of a sunrise, with intermittent glass beads that glimmer like sea foam, all present to communicate hope, joy, and peace that can be found on the other side of a long night of grief and loss.

Get to Know the Austin Artist:
Hola, My name is Marcus “Delmar” Clarke. My art practice is focused on making spirituality feel really grounded and tactile – to that end I’m using common objects like construction materials, rocks and minerals, or wood paneling, and making them have an ethereal quality by adding digital components with LED’s and lighting. I also create through metaphors created by natural sciences. I think a lot about the tension of heaven – that it’s something approachable, but not yet fully realized in our lives. That tension and my questions and doubts revolving around that is really where my art comes to life.
