While making this piece, I kept imagining the light becoming animated and bouncing around these spiky desert forms. I imagined each cactus, cloud, and mountain made of the same material, all conducting energy from the sunset. It's also a pleasure to bring Impressionism—typically a European technique—to the American southwest.
