The juxtaposition of manmade objects and nature become one in a landscape. The metal becomes a pathway for the trees, and such a giant structure changes the focus of the viewer. What was once a simple natural setting, becomes a pathway, or destination. Our reflection changes as we change our surroundings, just as the reflection of the subject itself changes. Do we embrace the alternative view, or oppose it?

Karin Tuck Dynner Petersen is a fiber artist who lives in Austin, Texas. She is inspired by scenes of nature during outings and travel. Her subjects range from landscapes to detailed images of flowers. She sews layers of textiles to create a tranquil journey, evoking all senses. She has a strong interest in environmental issues. Petersen has a BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA.
